  We went to the Barrio Cafe on the suggestion of a friend who went with us. A little 'hole in the wall' looking from a casual drive-by but actually very authentic Mexican cuisine without all the rice and beans filler. Every dish we ordered was excellent per all three of us at our table. The service was satisfactory/good. We tested several of their specialty cocktails and we each enjoyed what we ordered as per the written descriptions on the menu. I feel confident to highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting an authentic Mexico City style delicious meal!

  From a street view the place doesn't look like much but once you sit and taste the food a smile will come to your face. This was one of the better places I have visited in search of good eats. The prices were very reasonable and the place was clean.

  I was expecting the traditional Garden Inn and boy was I presently surprised! This property is a historic bank building from 1930 that stood empty for almost 20 years. So often when a hotel comes in and does a refurbish you either lose character or sacrifice room quality. This property has both!! The lobby is stunning

  Whenever we visit the Phoenix area, we go out of our way to have at least one dining experience at Barrio Cafe. Don't think traditional Mexican food. The menu is very creative and any dish is going to be different than anything you've ever tasted at a Mexican restaurant. I usually choose the pork wrapped in a banana leaf. No need for a knife. I have had pork shoulder in many different restaurants across America. This dish at Barrio Cafe has no match.
  
  What I enjoy just as much as the food is the attention to detail to everything in the restaurant. The artwork is fascinating, the wait staff is top notch, even the t shirts are unique and high quality. One of my favorite restaurants in the US.
